November 26, 2019
A director at a specialist Cambridgeshire rehabilitation and care group has been nominated for the Women in Social Enterprise (WISE) 100 Awards 2019 for her continuous commitment to providing excellence in the care sector.
Aliyyah-Begum Nasser, director at the family-run Askham Village Community, has been nominated for Social Business Leader of the Year in recognition of her role at Askham. The WISE100 awards are a platform connecting women nationwide, enabling them to learn from and inspire each other, discover collaboration opportunities and ultimately increase their social impact.
A natural multitasker, Aliyyah has always given her time to various causes simultaneously. These include transforming a failing ambulance service into a specialist bariatric transport service and a start-up venture manufacturing mobile medical facilities in India. Amongst these projects, Aliyyah is also a mother to a toddler and mentor to new businesswomen.
“It’s a privilege to be nominated for these awards,” said Aliyyah.
“It means so much to be acknowledged for contributing to the growing need for socially minded business professionals, particularly within health and social care where a growing number of people need support to be the best version of themselves.”
A family-run business for over 30 years, Askham Village Community provides specialist rehabilitation and care for the very young to elderly people, with the overall aim of improving quality of life. A growing number of residents at Askham, particularly those that require rehabilitation, make life-extending or life-changing progress and leave Askham able to walk or talk – where they were previously unable.
