Behan joins HC-One board
November 8, 2019
Sir David Behan, former chief executive of the Care Quality Commission, has joined the board of major care home operator HC-One as a non-executive director.
The appointment is Sir David’s only residential care sector post after departing from the CQC in July, where he had been chief executive for six years. His previous roles, all in the public sector, include director general for social care, local government and care partnerships at the Department of Health and director of social services for the London Borough of Greenwich, and before that for Cleveland County Council.
In his new role at HC-One, Sir David will be working with the board to help maintain and develop the company’s quality of services, providing “the kindest care to its residents”, and build on HC-One’s existing work to develop industry-leading career opportunities for its staff.
“I am delighted to be joining HC-One as non-executive director,” said Sir David.
“I have been impressed by HC-One’s commitment to ensuring their residents are safe, happy and well cared for and that their staff are well supported and trained. I am very much looking forward to working with the HC-One board to maintain and develop safe, kind, high quality care.”
HC-One chairman Dr Chai Patel said Sir David brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the company that would benefit residents, relatives and staff, and “help to continue providing the kindest care in the communities we serve”.
HC-One chief executive Justin Hutchens said Sir David’s appointment strengthened the company’s senior talent and strategic leadership.
“I look forward to working with Sir David to make further strides towards our objective of being the first-choice provider for residents and the employer of choice for the kindest staff in every community we serve,” he said.
