Property consultants GVA, acting on behalf of Bupa, has secured the sale of Goldsborough Estates which comprises a nationwide portfolio of private retirement developments with key clusters in London and the North West.
The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bupa and manages 20 sites with a total of 577 individual apartments.
The acquisition, which followed a competitive marketing campaign, will increase Housing & Care 21’s property portfolio to more than 20,700 across England.
Bupa Care Services managing director Joan Elliott, said: “Housing & Care 21 share our commitment to customers, residents and employees alike, as well as our dedication to high quality customer service. We’ve worked closely with the new owners to ensure a smooth transition for residents and colleagues alike.”
GVA head of healthcare Iain Lock said the disposal of Goldsborough Estates offered the market a rare opportunity to acquire a critical mass of retirement apartments across England and that, as a result, GVA had received strong interest from a number of management companies operating in the same sector.
