The UK Dementia Congress is the best opportunity for professionals to learn from and be inspired by others’ experience, make connections and build bridges towards best practice in their own localities. Presentations show how practice is linked to knowledge gained from research, experience, guidelines or expert consensus. Preference are given to papers that include an element of evaluation of a project or service, with scrutiny of the factors that lead to success or failure, what are the barriers to progress, whether these can be prevailed over and how.

The Journal of Dementia Care, the organisers of the Congress, in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society and the University of Worcester, want to encourage and welcome people with dementia to this major event. This year, as previously, the fees for people with dementia and their carers attending have been vastly reduced and we offer a number of free places for supporters to enable people with dementia to attend. Along with the Alzheimer’s Society and representatives from DEEP groups, we will ensure that support is available throughout the Congress to assist those who need it.
